How to Send a Letter

You can email Elder Brimhall by clicking here. He will be able to read and send emails each Monday.

The most reliable way to send a physical letter or a package is to send it to Ethan’s mom. She has been asked by the mission president to be the hub for all US missionary packages. She ships one group package on the 1st and 15th of every month. The Mission has an account with Aramex. Fawn groups everyone’s packages into one box and ships it to Aramex. Then Aramex sends it on to the mission home in Freetown. It is traceable and reliable. The cost is $25 per 1.1 lbs. and you pay via PayPal. The bulk of that money goes to the mission home to cover COD and customs charges. Fawn uses only what is needed to send to Aramex in New York. It takes two weeks to go from Henderson to the Mission Home.

See this Shipping Information Sheet for further detail.

Other ways to send physical mail…

Use a Forever International rate stamp ($1.15 each) and mail to:

Elder Ethan Cade Brimhall
Sierra Leone Freetown Mission
P.O. Box 263
Freetown
Sierra Leone

Send via Church pouch mail system with a regular 47-cent stamp and by following the specific mailing instructions below.pouch-mail-tri-fold-letter-257x300

Elder Ethan Cade Brimhall
Sierra Leone Freetown Mission
P.O. Box 30150
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0150

Do NOT use an envelope. Fold the one-page letter in thirds. Secure the long side with 2 pieces of tape about one inch in from each end and do not seal the ends. Address the outside of the page with the above address. As long as one third of one side of your letter is blank for addressing and stamping, you’re fine.

Disclaimer: I mailed one regular letter in an envelope on the same day as sending one via church pouch system to see what would arrive first. I sent them May 18. As of 11 months later, neither have arrived yet!

To send a package:

The least expensive way is to use a USPS 12 1/2″x9 1/2″ Priority Mail Express International Padded Flat Rate Envelope and keep it exactly 4 lbs. or less. Just know that it may never arrive and if it does, it will take a long time. Send at your own risk! Cost is $62.50 for us here in NV. It cannot be tracked. Attach pictures and stickers of Jesus or the Virgin Mary or any other type of religious image on the outside. Tape it up A LOT. On the package details and value form, put that it is for Church missionary work, not for resale and that it has very little monetary value (something under $20 is best). Mail it to:

Elder Ethan Cade Brimhall
Sierra Leone Freetown Mission
#2 Belliar Park, Dwarzak Farm
Freetown
Sierra Leone

If you ship a package via a private courier (UPS, FedEX, DHL, etc.) they will need the mission office phone number: 232 76-541-520. The least expensive way is to use Global Mission Shipping or My Missionary Shipping and follow their guidelines. Some price quotes on GMS are: 8x8x4 and 2 lbs – $83; 12x9x3 or 10x9x4 and 3 lbs – $103; 14x10x3 and 4 lbs – $117; 10x10x6; 5 lbs – $130; 10x8x6 and 6 lbs – $138. MMS is sometimes less expensive than GMS so be sure to compare price quotes.

Compare with UPS: 8x8x4-2lbs for $133, 12x9x3-3lbs for $151, 14x10x3-4lbs for $184, 10x10x6-5lbs for $211, 10x8x6-6lbs for $244.
